Richard West never imagined that he would spend 30 years as the keyboardist with British progressive metal standard bearers Threshold. From his first rehearsal with the band in a damp, neglected village hall, to touring with Dream Theater and sharing huge outdoor festival bills with rock legends including Whitesnake, West has been at the heart of Threshold since 1993 and has become one of its driving forces.

Oblivion Protocol

OBLIVION PROTOCOL – THE FALL OF THE SHIRES (2023)

Oblivion Protocol is a new project formed by Richard West to record a sequel to Threshold’s concept album ‘Legends of the Shires’.

Featuring West on vocals and keyboards, Oblivion Protocol‘s line-up is completed with Ruud Jolie (WITHIN TEMPTATION), bassist Simon Andersson (DARKWATER) and drummer Darby Todd (DEVIN TOWNSEND). Last but not least THRESHOLD‘s Karl Groom has also contributed some truly enthralling guitar solos to the record.
